Dhara Kinariwala, MD

Medicine has always felt like a calling for me, rooted in childhood memories of seeing my pediatrician parents rush to the hospital to care for newborns in our local community. After taking interest in pediatric interventional radiology in medical school and completing my residency at the University of Virginia and a fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, I now care for both adults and children with a wide range of conditions, including vascular anomalies, tumors, liver diseases, renovascular disease, lymphatic disorders, arterial diseases, and venous thrombosis and compression. My goal is to deliver advanced, image-guided treatments that are a vital part of a patient's journey to recovery and improved quality of life.

In my practice, I treat a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions, with a particular focus on complex vascular malformations like arteriovenous, venous, and lymphatic malformations—often referred to as hemangiomas or lymphangiomas. My work also involves performing life-altering procedures, such as embolizing or ablating cancers and tumors, restoring circulation by opening or closing blood vessels, and alleviating symptoms caused by vascular disease. I am especially passionate about extending the availability and breadth of minimally invasive options for patients of all ages, ensuring we meet their needs at every stage of life.

I’ve led two medical education grant projects aimed at revolutionizing radiology training for future physicians, and my volunteer experience across six foreign healthcare systems has broadened my perspective on how to effectively connect with diverse patient populations. My research focuses on advancing interventional radiology care for children and adults to develop safer and more effective treatments for complex vascular conditions. I’ve published and presented nationally and internationally, aiming to ensure that the treatments we offer are firmly grounded in the latest medical evidence. My academic work is always motivated by the goal of bringing breakthrough innovations directly to the bedside, offering families the highest level of care.
